Unpack the prescription offer
Can you name the people and product?
Before you read the sales pitch, get four names you can look up.
What needs a full name?
- The clinician. The person who makes the treatment decision: a medical doctor, a nurse practitioner, or a PA (physician assistant). Get the full name, job title and the state that issued the licence.
- The care business. The name that bills you and handles your health record.
- The pharmacy. The business that will make or fill the medicine and send it to you.
- The medicine. The ingredient; the brand name, or “compounded” if a pharmacy mixed it; how it is taken and its strength; who made it; and the health reason.
Why does your own state matter?
As of September 2026, anyone treating you by phone or video must hold a licence, or other permission, from the medical board of the state you are sitting in for the visit, not only the state that houses their office.
So ask which state licences the clinician holds, then look the name up on your state board's website.
What if a name is missing?
Pause the comparison. A clear service can tell you who provides the care, who fills the prescription and what product is being discussed before payment.
Keep a note of the exact spelling. Official records are searched by name. A seal, logo or slogan on a website cannot be looked up.
